Getting there

Oaxaca has an international airport (OAX). You can either fly to Oaxaca from Mexico City (by Aeromexico, Interjet or Volaris) or from Houston (by United); there are also flights from other Mexican cities. There is an intercity bus service from Mexico City to Oaxaca; the trip takes 6 to 7 hours. The buses depart from Terminal de Autobuses Poniente (TAPO) which can be reached from the Mexico City Airport by city bus (metrobus).

Arrival and departure dates

Oaxaca is one of the most interesting cities in Mexico. If you are only attending the conference, you are advised to arrive on Jan 25 and leave on Jan 31; however, it may be worth staying for another day or two in order to explore the villages in the Oaxaca valley.

Accommodation

We expect to provide hotel to most participants; we shall be sending this information by email. If, for some reason, you need to book your own accommodation, there are plenty of hotels in Oaxaca city center, of reasonable quality and very accessible prices.

Venue

The conference will take place in the Biblioteca Beatriz de la Fuente, on the main square in front of the Cathedral.

Excursion

Most likely, there will be a trip to Monte Alban on Wednesday.
